Ingredients

  • 🥩450 g beef flank steak
  • 🍝225 g lo mein noodles
  • 🥦1 cup broccoli florets
  • 🥕1 cup sliced carrots
  • 🫑½ cup sliced bell pepper
  • 🍶¼ cup soy sauce
  • 🦪2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 🧴1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 🧄2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 🫚1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 🍚1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 🌻2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 🧅2 green onions, sliced

Pro tips

  • For extra flavor, add a dash of rice vinegar or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the beef; cook in batches if necessary to ensure proper browning.
  • Feel free to customize the vegetables based on what you have on hand, such as snap peas or mushrooms.

Method

  1. 1Slice beef flank steak against the grain into thin strips. In a bowl, toss beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and cornstarch. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. 2Cook lo mein noodles according to package directions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
  3. 3In a small bowl, whisk together remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil to create the lo mein sauce.
  4. 4Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  5. 5Add garlic, ginger, broccoli, carrots, and bell pepper to the same skillet. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender.
  6. 6Return cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour in the lo mein sauce.
  7. 7Toss everything together until well combined and heated through. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
