Ingredients

  • 🥚2 large eggs
  • 🍞2 slices whole wheat bread
  • 🧈½ tsp butter or margarine
  • 🧂 salt and pepper, to taste

Pro tips

  • For easier peeling, use eggs that are a few days old.
  • Adjust cooking time for eggs based on your altitude and desired yolk consistency.
  • Try adding a dash of hot sauce or everything bagel seasoning to your eggs for extra flavor.

Method

  1. 1Carefully place eggs in a small saucepan and cover with cold water by about an inch.
  2. 2Bring water to a rolling boil over high heat, then immediately reduce heat to low and cover.
  3. 3Cook for 6-8 minutes for desired doneness (6 for soft, 8 for firm).
  4. 4While eggs are cooking, toast the whole wheat bread to your preference.
  5. 5Once eggs are cooked, transfer them to an ice bath for 1-2 minutes to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
  6. 6Peel the eggs, slice them in half, and season with salt and pepper.
  7. 7Butter the toasted bread and serve immediately with the boiled eggs.
