Ingredients

  • 🥚2 large eggs
  • 🌰½ tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 🧂1 pinch sea salt
  • 🌶️1 pinch black pepper

Pro tips

  • Adding a pinch of salt or a teaspoon of vinegar to the boiling water can help prevent cracked eggs from leaking.
  • For easier peeling, use eggs that are a few days old rather than super fresh ones.
  • Adjust simmering time to achieve your desired yolk consistency, from jammy to firm.

Method

  1. 1Carefully place eggs in a small saucepan and cover with cold water by about an inch.
  2. 2Bring water to a rolling boil over high heat, then immediately reduce heat to low.
  3. 3Simmer for 6-8 minutes for soft to medium-boiled eggs, or longer for hard-boiled.
  4. 4Prepare an ice bath by filling a bowl with ice and water.
  5. 5Once cooked, transfer eggs immediately to the ice bath using a slotted spoon and let cool for 2-3 minutes.
  6. 6Gently peel the cooled eggs under running water for easier removal of the shell.
  7. 7Slice eggs in half lengthwise and arrange on a plate.
  8. 8Drizzle with toasted sesame oil and sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper before serving.
