Ingredients
- 🥚2 large eggs
- 🌶️½ tsp black pepper
- 🌶️¼ tsp smoked paprika
- 🧄¼ tsp garlic powder
- 🌶️0 tsp cayenne pepper
- 🧂1 pinch sea salt
Pro tips
- For easier peeling, use eggs that are a few days old, not super fresh.
- Adjust the cooking time for your preferred yolk consistency.
- Experiment with other spices like onion powder or a tiny bit of cumin for variety.
Method
- 1Carefully place eggs in a small saucepan and cover with cold water by about an inch. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 6-7 minutes for a firm but still creamy yolk, or 10 minutes for a hard-boiled yolk.
- 3While eggs are simmering, combine black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl.
- 4Immediately transfer cooked eggs to an ice bath or run under cold water for 2-3 minutes to stop the cooking process and make them easier to peel.
- 5Gently peel the eggs under cold running water. Slice each egg in half lengthwise.
- 6Arrange the egg halves on a plate and sprinkle evenly with the prepared spice mixture and a pinch of sea salt.
