Ingredients
- 🥚2 large eggs
- 🌿½ tsp za'atar
- 🧂¼ tsp salt
Pro tips
- For perfectly soft-boiled eggs, stick to a 6-minute stand time after boiling. For jammy yolks, 8 minutes is ideal.
- Adding a pinch of salt or a teaspoon of vinegar to the boiling water can help prevent cracking and make peeling easier.
- Serve these eggs as a quick breakfast, a healthy snack, or even crumbled over a fresh salad for added protein and flavor.
Method
- 1Place eggs in a small saucepan and cover with cold water. Ensure the water is about 1 inch above the eggs.
- 2Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 3Once boiling, immediately remove the saucepan from heat, cover with a lid, and let stand for 6-7 minutes for soft-boiled, or 10-12 minutes for hard-boiled.
- 4While the eggs are cooking, prepare a bowl of ice water.
- 5Carefully transfer the cooked eggs to the ice water bath and let them cool for at least 2 minutes. This stops the cooking process and makes peeling easier.
- 6Gently tap and roll the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shell, then peel them under cold running water.
- 7Cut the peeled eggs in half or quarters, sprinkle generously with Za'atar and a pinch of salt.
