Ingredients
- 🥚2 large eggs
- 💧 water
- 🧂¼ tsp salt
Pro tips
- For easier peeling, use eggs that are a few days old, not super fresh ones.
- Adjust sitting time for desired yolk consistency: 7 minutes for slightly jammy, 12 minutes for very firm.
- Add a pinch of salt or a splash of vinegar to the cooking water to help prevent cracking.
Method
- 1Place eggs in a saucepan in a single layer. Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about an inch.
- 2Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, immediately turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let sit for 9-10 minutes for firm yolks.
- 3While eggs are cooking, prepare an ice bath: fill a medium bowl with ice and cold water.
- 4Once the timer is up, carefully transfer the eggs from the hot water to the ice bath using a slotted spoon.
- 5Let the eggs cool in the ice bath for at least 5 minutes to stop the cooking process and make them easier to peel.
- 6Gently tap the cooled eggs on a hard surface and peel under cool running water for best results. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
