Ingredients

  • 🥩500 g lean ground beef
  • 🥬1 large lettuce head (e.g., iceberg or butter)
  • 🧅½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • 🍅1 large tomato, sliced
  • 🥒4 pickle spears, sliced
  • 🫒2 tbsp olive oil
  • 🧄1 tsp garlic powder
  • 🌶️½ tsp paprika
  • 🍅¼ cup low-sugar ketchup
  • condiment2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 🧂 salt and black pepper, to taste

Pro tips

  • For extra flavor, finely dice some onion and mix it into the beef patties before cooking.
  • Consider adding a slice of your favorite low-fat cheese on top of the patties during the last minute of cooking for a melty addition.
  • To make it a complete meal, serve with a side of roasted sweet potato fries or a simple garden salad.

Method

  1. 1In a bowl, combine ground beef with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then form into 4 equal patties.
  2. 2Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
  3. 3While burgers cook, carefully separate and wash the lettuce leaves. Pat them dry and arrange them on a serving platter to form the 'buns'.
  4. 4Slice the red onion, tomato, and pickles and arrange them alongside the lettuce.
  5. 5Once burgers are cooked, transfer them to the serving platter.
  6. 6Serve the burger patties and toppings with low-sugar ketchup and yellow mustard, allowing everyone to build their own lettuce wraps.
