Ingredients
- 🥩500 g lean ground beef
- 🥬1 large lettuce head (e.g., iceberg or butter)
- 🧅½ red onion, thinly sliced
- 🍅1 large tomato, sliced
- 🥒4 pickle spears, sliced
- 🫒2 tbsp olive oil
- 🧄1 tsp garlic powder
- 🌶️½ tsp paprika
- 🍅¼ cup low-sugar ketchup
- condiment2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 🧂 salt and black pepper, to taste
Pro tips
- For extra flavor, finely dice some onion and mix it into the beef patties before cooking.
- Consider adding a slice of your favorite low-fat cheese on top of the patties during the last minute of cooking for a melty addition.
- To make it a complete meal, serve with a side of roasted sweet potato fries or a simple garden salad.
Method
- 1In a bowl, combine ground beef with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then form into 4 equal patties.
- 2Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
- 3While burgers cook, carefully separate and wash the lettuce leaves. Pat them dry and arrange them on a serving platter to form the 'buns'.
- 4Slice the red onion, tomato, and pickles and arrange them alongside the lettuce.
- 5Once burgers are cooked, transfer them to the serving platter.
- 6Serve the burger patties and toppings with low-sugar ketchup and yellow mustard, allowing everyone to build their own lettuce wraps.
