Ingredients
- 🥩700 g ground beef, 80/20
- 🥚1 egg
- 🥛1 cup milk
- 🍞1 cup bread crumbs
- 🧅½ cup onion, finely chopped
- 🧄1 tsp garlic powder
- 🌿½ tsp dried thyme
- 🥔1 kg potatoes, peeled and quartered
- cream½ cup heavy cream
- 🧈¼ cup butter
- 🥫½ cup ketchup, for glaze
- 🍚2 tbsp brown sugar, for glaze
- ขวด1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, for glaze
- 🧂 salt and black pepper, to taste
Pro tips
- For extra flavor, sauté the onion before adding it to the meatloaf mixture.
- Don't overmix the meatloaf, as it can make it tough.
- Adjust the amount of milk and cream in the mashed potatoes to achieve your desired consistency.
Method
- 1Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, milk, bread crumbs, chopped onion, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- 2Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish. For the glaze, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Spread the glaze over the meatloaf.
- 3Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 71°C (160°F). Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- 4While the meatloaf bakes, place the quartered potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
- 5Drain the potatoes thoroughly. Return them to the hot pot and add heavy cream and butter. Mash until smooth and creamy, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6Slice the rested meatloaf and serve hot with a generous portion of creamy mashed potatoes.
