Ingredients
- 🦐500 g prawns, shelled and deveined
- 🧅2 onions, finely chopped
- 🍅2 tomatoes, pureed
- 🧄1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 🧡½ tsp turmeric powder
- 🌶️1 tsp red chili powder
- 🌿1 ½ tsp coriander powder
- 🤎½ tsp garam masala
- 🌻2 tbsp cooking oil
- cilantro¼ cup fresh coriander, chopped
- 🌾2 cups whole wheat flour
- 🧂½ tsp salt
- 💧1 cup water, for dough
Pro tips
- Do not overcook the prawns, as they can become rubbery.
- Adjust the red chili powder to your preferred spice level.
- For softer rotis, add a teaspoon of oil to the dough while kneading.
Method
- 1Marinate prawns with a pinch of turmeric and salt for 15 minutes.
- 2Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- 3Stir in tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until oil separates.
- 4Add marinated prawns to the masala and cook for 5-7 minutes, until they turn pink and opaque.
- 5Sprinkle garam masala and chopped coriander, mix well and set aside.
- 6For roti, combine whole wheat flour and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water and knead into a soft dough. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- 7Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each into a thin circle.
- 8Cook rotis on a hot griddle until puffed up and lightly browned on both sides.
