Ingredients
- 🧀200 g paneer
- 🌾2 cup whole wheat flour
- 💧¾ cup water
- 🧅1 onion, finely chopped
- 🌶️1 green chili, finely chopped
- 🧄½ tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 🌶️½ tsp red chili powder
- 🌿½ tsp garam masala
- 🌿½ tsp cumin powder
- 🌿2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
- 🧈2 tbsp ghee or oil
- 🧂1 tsp salt
Pro tips
- Ensure the dough is soft and well-kneaded for truly soft parathas.
- Don't overfill the parathas, or they might tear while rolling.
- Cook on medium-high heat to achieve a crispy exterior and soft interior.
- Serve with yogurt, pickle, or your favorite chutney.
Method
- 1In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead into a soft, pliable dough. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
- 2Crumble the paneer into a separate bowl. Add chopped onion, green chili, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, chopped coriander, and salt. Mix well to form the filling.
- 3Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small disc (about 3 inches in diameter).
- 4Place a spoonful of paneer filling in the center of one disc. Bring the edges together to seal, forming a ball. Flatten gently.
- 5Lightly dust with flour and roll out carefully into a paratha of about 6-7 inches in diameter.
- 6Heat a tawa or flat griddle over medium-high heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa.
- 7Cook for about 1 minute until small bubbles appear. Flip and apply ghee or oil on the cooked side. Cook for another minute.
- 8Flip again and apply ghee or oil on the second side. Press gently with a spatula and cook until golden brown spots appear on both sides.
- 9Repeat with the remaining dough and filling. Serve hot.
