Ingredients
- 🥩450 g lean ground beef
- 🧅1 onion, chopped
- 🧄2 cloves garlic, minced
- 🌶️1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 💧½ cup water
- 🌮8 corn or flour tortillas
- 🥬1 cup shredded lettuce
- 🧀½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 🍅½ cup salsa
- 🍦¼ cup sour cream
- 🍋1 lime, cut into wedges
Pro tips
- For extra spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef mixture.
- Warm your tortillas directly over a gas flame for a slight smoky char.
- Offer a variety of toppings like sliced avocado, pickled jalapeños, or chopped cilantro.
Method
- 1Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
- 2Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
- 3Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid has mostly absorbed and the mixture has thickened.
- 4While the beef is simmering, warm the tortillas according to package directions, either in a microwave, oven, or on a dry skillet.
- 5Assemble the tacos by spooning the seasoned beef into the warm tortillas. Top with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, salsa, and a dollop of sour cream.
- 6Serve immediately with fresh lime wedges for squeezing.
