Ingredients

  • 🥚4 large eggs
  • 🧡½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 🌶️¼ tsp chili powder
  • 🌶️¼ tsp black pepper
  • 🧂½ tsp salt
  • 🫒1 tbsp olive oil
  • 🌿1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped

Pro tips

  • For easier peeling, use eggs that are a few days old, not super fresh.
  • Adjust chili powder to your preferred spice level, or omit for a milder flavor.
  • These spiced eggs are great as a quick snack, in salads, or alongside toast for breakfast.

Method

  1. 1Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
  2. 2Once boiling, turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let sit for 10-12 minutes for firm yolks.
  3. 3Drain the hot water and immediately transfer eggs to an ice bath for 5 minutes to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
  4. 4Peel the eggs carefully under running water, then slice each egg in half lengthwise.
  5. 5In a small bowl, combine turmeric, chili powder, black pepper, and salt.
  6. 6Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Arrange the egg halves cut-side down.
  7. 7Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the eggs. Cook for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden and fragrant.
  8. 8Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving warm.
