Ingredients
- 🥚4 large eggs
- 🧡½ tsp turmeric powder
- 🌶️¼ tsp chili powder
- 🌶️¼ tsp black pepper
- 🧂½ tsp salt
- 🫒1 tbsp olive oil
- 🌿1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
Pro tips
- For easier peeling, use eggs that are a few days old, not super fresh.
- Adjust chili powder to your preferred spice level, or omit for a milder flavor.
- These spiced eggs are great as a quick snack, in salads, or alongside toast for breakfast.
Method
- 1Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2Once boiling, turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let sit for 10-12 minutes for firm yolks.
- 3Drain the hot water and immediately transfer eggs to an ice bath for 5 minutes to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
- 4Peel the eggs carefully under running water, then slice each egg in half lengthwise.
- 5In a small bowl, combine turmeric, chili powder, black pepper, and salt.
- 6Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Arrange the egg halves cut-side down.
- 7Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the eggs. Cook for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden and fragrant.
- 8Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving warm.
