Ingredients
- 🦃500 g ground turkey, lean
- 🥚1 egg, large
- 🍞½ cup breadcrumbs, panko
- 🥛¼ cup milk, low-fat
- 🧅1 onion, small, finely chopped
- 🧄2 cloves garlic, minced
- 🍾1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 🌿1 tsp dried thyme
- 🧂½ tsp salt
- 🌶️¼ tsp black pepper
- 🟢400 g green beans, fresh or frozen
- 🍅½ cup ketchup
- 🍯1 tbsp brown sugar
- 🥣1 tsp Dijon mustard
Pro tips
- To prevent your meatloaf from drying out, avoid overmixing the meat. Gently combine ingredients until just incorporated.
- For extra flavor, sauté the onion and garlic before adding them to the meat mixture.
- If you don't have panko, regular breadcrumbs can be used, but panko gives a lighter texture.
Method
- 1Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Lightly grease a loaf pan or a baking sheet.
- 2In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 3Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in the prepared loaf pan or on the baking sheet.
- 4In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard for the glaze.
- 5Spread about half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- 6Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven, spread the remaining glaze, and arrange the green beans around the meatloaf on the baking sheet (if using) or in a separate dish.
- 7Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 74°C (165°F) and green beans are tender-crisp.
- 8Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving with the green beans.
